Tiling in London

Extremely disappointing experience with ELVERMERE CONSTRUCTION LTD (formerly AMARS TILING SPECIALIST LTD, company no. 14007351). I paid £6,400 in October 2026 for home renovations and materials. None of the projects was fully completed before the arrangement ended. He repeatedly started different jobs without finishing earlier ones, leaving several areas of my home disrupted. Communication was poor. He regularly promised morning arrivals, then came hours late or failed to attend as expected. I had to chase for updates. Materials were often missing, slowing progress. He also sent workers I had not met to my home without proper introductions, while saying he was nearby. Despite unfinished work, he repeatedly asked for more money. I paid a further £2,500 in good faith, but progress did not improve. Of the initial payment, £1,400 was for materials, with receipts and a reconciliation promised. I still have not received a satisfactory accounting. Waste removal was agreed at £800, yet construction waste remained at my property despite repeated promises. On 23 October we agreed in writing that £490 was refundable for unfinished work; he replied, "Ok confirmed". Neither that sum nor the £800 waste-removal payment has been returned. When I requested repayment and mentioned leaving a review, he sent abusive messages including "You will see me around all the times" and "Try it and see the consequences". I have reported these messages to the Metropolitan Police. I am seeking recovery of the outstanding money and assessing possible damage around the WC wall. I have retained WhatsApp messages, bank records and photographs. Based on my experience, I would not hire this company again.
